Business Development Director – Government Services

Reporting into the Growth Director with a dotted line into the Managing Director the Business Development Director will lead Growth in the key Compass market of Government services, setting the strategic plan for growth, including new and existing clients, leading the Government services growth team and delivering annual budget. 
Our Business Development Director will manage the strategic partnerships with suppliers, partners and integrators, shape our go to market proposition and commercial model. 
The primary responsibility is to generate new business to drive sales and profitability to meet budgetary targets as well as playing an active role in retaining key current clients. 
You will confidently and competently manage the team  through all ‘steps of the sale’ from first appointment to site survey, proposal compilation to presentation and following successful bids to secure signed contract and thoroughly hand over to operational team. 
As Business Development Director you will also be responsible for 
  • Agreeing strategic plan for market development
  • Developing and agreeing client relationship programs
  • Developing business in new markets and growing existing market share
  • Identifying and gathering intelligence on key opportunities for rolling three-year plan
  • Ensuring SWOT analysis is commercially viable
  • Delivering the annual new business and retention targets 
  • Ensure team are trained, follow process and structure is in place for growth 
The successful Business Development Director will
  • Have previous leadership experience 
  • Be target focused and able to work in a fast paced environment 
  • Embrace proven sales process and ways of working 
  • Have knowledge of FM and selling contracted services 
  • Be Highly literate, numerate and competent in all Microsoft packages
  • Have a proven track record of exceeding sales targets
  • Be experienced of managing the end-to-end sales process
  • Have demonstrable experience of proposing and gaining agreement for tender submissions that cover the needs and expectations of all internal and external stakeholders
