Are you looking for a foot on the ladder to your environmental career? We are currently looking for a Environmental Permitting Assistant to join our friendly team based in Quorn, Loughborough.

The successful Environmental Permitting Assistant will be support the Permitting function in ensuring that the business has the right environmental permits to fulfil it’s legal compliance with UK permitting and associated, environmental legislation.

The role offers variety and the opportunity to develop. On a day to day basis, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Advise the business what environmental permits and licences they need to legally operate, and/or whether existing environmental permits and licences remain appropriate following changes in operation at a site
  • Work with the regulators such as Environment Agency, SEPA, NRW and the local authorities
  • Prepare, submit and manage the process for less complex environmental permit applications
  • Assist with the coordination of the internal gathering of information for more complex permit applications
  • Assist with the preparation, management and review quarry Mines Waste Management Plans (WMP) and Extractive Material Management Statements (EMMS) for the companies quarries
  • Ensure that any relevant permit information is updated onto LIS and other relevant information systems

The ideal candidate for the role of Environmental Permitting Assistant will be educated to degree level or equivalent experience, preferably in an environmental, science or legal related subject.

You will ideally have some knowledge of environmental legislation, guidance, practices and procedure, and their application to the business. A knowledge of environmental permits for waste operations, water discharges, and abstractions and experience of working with regulatory authorities would be beneficial but enthusiasm and willingness to learn is also important and training can be given.

You will also have a collaborative approach to working, strong written and verbal communication and influencing skills.
