Description:

Take our People strategy, and run with it

Who we are

We’ve just finished updating our people strategy and plan here at Warwickshire County Council. Our leadership team are deeply involved and committed to reinforcing its ambitions and key themes. Now, we need someone with the gravitas and nous to rally 5,000 colleagues around it – so we can ultimately deliver even better services. You’ll join a supportive and open culture where you can operate with autonomy and trust.

A pivotal responsibility

This is tremendously wide-ranging role with management of three teams: People Skills handles training, including E-learning; OD oversees culture change and transformation, inductions, benefits and engagement; and EDI focuses on supporting our leaders to lead diversity from the front, develop inclusivity across the workforce, supporting staff networks and tailoring our offer to the needs of our staff.

As well as maximising a c.£2 million budget, you’ll manage three reports and a wider team of 22-staff, ensuring all our workstreams are on track for delivery. You’ll also be a trusted advisor on all things Learning & OD for the leadership team – which means you’ll also have many opportunities to champion innovations to expand and enhance our capabilities.

What we’re looking for

CIPD Level 7 qualified, it’s vital that you bring a wealth of senior HR Learning and Organisational Development experience – not only operationally, but in large-scale change management.

Commercially minded, you’ll have a strong reputation for designing and leading development and EDI products and solutions that deliver results, from cultural change and astute leadership to better performance, attraction and retention. We’ll also expect you to have a good grasp of public sector procurement and contract processes.

You’ll be a natural communicator with great people, team and stakeholder management skills and enjoy writing, presenting and winning buy-in for business cases.

Your rewards

Success here will mean we’re able to provide a better quality of life for our 550,000+ residents – not to mention the businesses investing in our ever-growing commercial and cultural scene.

Naturally, you’ll have the chance to build on your already-impressive Learning & OD expertise too and, over time, take on even more senior roles. At WCC, the breadth of roles here means you can shape your own career, whether that’s becoming the best at what you do, progressing with your strengths and ambition, or exploring interests in other areas within the Council, you’ll grow into who you want to be. Develop the career you want. Learn different skills. There is nothing stopping you from going a long way here and personally contributing to the county’s success.

We know our employees want to do the best job possible, so we believe in properly rewarding you for your hard work and commitment:

LGPS (Local Government Pension Scheme)
Generous Holiday allowance
Employee benefits scheme
Health & Wellbeing support
Enhanced Maternity & Paternity leave
