We are looking for 1:1 Teaching Assistants to join our team at Chesham House School based in Bury.

Cambian Chesham House School provides education for a range of students within the Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) sector of secondary education age. Recently rated as Good by Ofsted with an area of Outstanding for Personal Development.  We’re looking for individuals to join our team that want to make a difference and to support some of the most amazing young people to achieve their personal best as we continue our journey to outstanding.

Chesham House offers a quality and personalised education for up to 20 students ranging from 10 to 18 years. Teaching staff are support staff are supported and encouraged to be creative and forward thinking in their approach to teaching, learning and support. In addition to our academic curriculum, students engage in a range of external enrichment activities, as well as vocational learning off site, allowing learning to be extended beyond the classroom. Pastoral support and relationships within our school are strong and wellbeing and relationships are at the core of everything we do.

As part of the role, Candidates must be able to demonstrate classroom and behaviour management skills and an understanding of the issues associated with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. Ideally you will have the personality, determination and creativity to support children and young people to re-engage with education. Experience of working with young people within a SEN/SEMH environment would be an advantage. Your role will involve direct work with an individual, and on occasion, small groups of students both in the classroom and outside of it. Providing support and transport to promote positive education experiences and implementing individual education programmes; academically, vocationally and for personal development to ensure our students are able to progress positively to the next stage of their journeys.  You will need to have excellent communication skills as well as being able to work flexibly in relation to tasks undertaken. You will need good academic skills to support our young people to develop their skills across a range of subject areas, including English and Maths.

Ideally candidates will have previous experience within an education setting supporting students directly and will have achieved a level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning, this is however, not essential. The school is committed to supporting the development of not only our students but also our team and have supported the progress of teaching assistants and trainee teachers to achieve their goals within an Education career.

Cambian Chesham House School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of our young people and the successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and successful completion of pre-employment checks.
