We are currently recruiting for a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in the South West. 

Working within the Quality Team to support the ethos of implementing Positive Behaviour Support, by providing expertise, advice and support to colleagues and individuals we support, within our college, residential and supported living services. Successful candidates will carry a manageable caseload to support individuals who may be in crisis, focussing on mentoring colleagues within services and reducing PBS Practitioner input over time. This is a key role within the Quality Team, NCG Executive are fully committed to reducing restrictive interventions and are signed up to the Restraint Reduction Network. National Care Group is proud to be working closely with PBSuk who will provide regular clinical supervision to the successful candidate.

The role will require some flexibility due to the needs of the individuals we support and involve some overnight stays therefore a driving licence is essential.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To promote and support the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support across National Care Group
  • Undertake behaviour assessments of individuals in collaboration with colleagues, liaising with other disciplines as required
  • Produce assessment reports, risk assessments and Positive Behaviour Support plans to enable staff to support individuals and improve outcomes for the individuals we support
  • Monitor implementation of agreed strategies to ensure a successful outcome for individuals
  • Undertake direct work with individuals we support to improve their quality of life.
  • When required coach and mentor colleagues to promote active support and person centred approaches
  • Provide written reports to managers to assist in monitoring the effectiveness and efficiency of service provided
  • Contribute to NCG’s commitment to STOMP and actively participate in Risk and Governance Committees
  • Carry out analytic duties including data collection, entry, and analysis
  • Participate in delivering training and education to colleagues in understanding and supporting the individuals we support, ensuring competencies are achieved and maintained in practical implementation
  • Participate in and undertake research project agreed by Manager
  • Participate in team meetings and relevant external multi-disciplinary meetings with a view to positively contributing to improving performance, standards, and outcomes for the individuals we support
  • Promoting a reduction in physical interventions to allow individuals to have life fulling opportunities
  • Transition support, to support individuals and staff
  • Support NCG commitment to reducing restrictive practices (Restraint Reduction Network) and the use of psychotropic medications (STOMP pledge)

To apply for this position you must have: 

  • Experience of working with adults in a Social Care or Health Care setting for at least 2 years
  • An accredited recognised qualification in Positive Behaviour Support
  • Experience of working with individuals with multiple and complex needs
  • Experience of practical application of Positive Behaviour Support
  • Experience of practical application of Active Support
  • A valid UK Driving License
  • Appreciation and understanding of Person-Centred Planning
