We are currently recruiting for a RAP Manager (Maternity Cover) to join our team based in our South West region covering all RAP enabled plants in the Southwest. This role is to cover maternity leave and would suit candidates living in the South Wales region including Pontyclun, Penarth, Cardiff, Barry, Bridgend, Port Talbot, Maesteg, Merthyr Tydfil, Cwmbran, Newport and the surrounding areas.

Reporting to the Continuous Improvements Manager the RAP Manager will be responsible for agreeing the RAP (Reclaimed Asphalt Planings) Strategy with the Operations Director, CI Manager, Area Operations Managers & Commercial Team. You will also identify opportunities to win planning’s work and contract negotiation and pricing, along with delivery of works to meet budgeted RAP demand.
The role of RAP Manager will also be responsible for:
- Producing a plan to deliver planning’s meeting customer and Tarmac requirements
- Design, rollout, and Reporting on KPI’s and performance vs forecast and budget
- Close communication with external and internal customers to ensure excellent relationships are maintained
- Review supply and demand and adjust the RAP strategy as required
- Manage and promote close communication with the Logistic and Distribution team to optimise the use of internal haulage
- Ensuring close communication with the Commercial team to ensure that SAP routines are followed and prices, quotes, jobs are all correctly implemented
- Coordinating Planings crushing program with the Operations Manager
- Holding weekly RAP calls with the units to review stocks & performance
- Assessing and planning the resources to deliver the planing’s recovery program
- Ensuring documentation correctly completed and returned
- Ensuring out of hours work and immediate action drills are in place so unplanned events are managed appropriately
You will work extremely closely with Unit Managers TAMs / Transport Manager, Distribution team and W/B clerks, link room, Commercial Teams, Pave Contract managers, Area Ops Managers, NRP Business Unit.
The ideal candidate for the role of RAP Manager will have experience gained within the operations, asphalt supply, logistics, commercial, recycling or environmental management industry but experience working in highly demanding operational role within a similar industry sector will be considered.
Suitable candidates for the role of RAP Manager will also have:
- Proven ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Determination to optimise performance with a continuous improvement mindset
- Confidence to overcome obstacles with flexibility and adaptability to manage conflicting demands
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively negotiate
- Good IT skills preferably including SAP
- Safety awareness and knowledge of Asphalt Surfacing and Planing process
- Strong logistical capability to deliver the strategy in the most cost-effective way, supporting interaction with both internal and external stakeholders
- WAMITAB, EPOC or equivalent environmental degree advantageous
