Job Title: SEN Teacher (ASC Provision)
Reporting to: Principal
Location: Cavendish View Primary School, Walton, L9 1NB Liverpool
Salary Range £31, 778.00 – £34, 000.00 (M4)

Main Roles and Responsibilities:
To lead on developing a specialist ASC curriculum that supports academic and social progression for pupils.
Plan, deliver and assess outstanding teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable autistic young people to learn
Be a class tutor, ensuring pastoral needs are met and establishing excellent relationships with parents and carers
Manage a staff team
Inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionals
Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom
Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school
Engage in whole school activities as required by the Principal.
Adhere to all working protocols as agreed and published in the School handbook
Plan and lead children in off-site enrichment activities
Ensure you uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training, including induction training
Person Specification (Essential)
Proven ability that you are an excellent teacher with a lively and effective classroom teaching style, which engages and motivates young people
Previous managerial experience
Experience of working with children with SEN, SEMH or ASC
A commitment to engaging young people, with a willingness to bring new ideas to the curriculum for both in and out of the classroom
An excellent knowledge of the specialist curriculum area and how it may be effectively taught.

Familiar with frameworks for monitoring and assessment of social and communication skills for
pupils with ASC
Experience of working with pupils with sensory processing difficulties and creating programmes to enable these pupils to make progress

Offer advice / training to staff working with other students whereby ASC may not be a primary need but is a secondary diagnosis.
Offer support to new staff supporting ASC provision.
Involvement in the assessment and referral process for children / young people with ASC
To coordinate and lead on the annual review process for all children / young people within the ASC provision.
Teaching and learning
Design appropriate curriculum pathways and develop accredited courses, collaboratively with Principal/Curriculum Lead
Drive a continuous and consistent focus on pupils’ achievement, using school assessment systems to monitor progress.
Establish creative, responsive and effective approaches to teaching
Monitor evaluate and review the effectiveness of teaching
Create a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all pupils can achieve success and become engaged in their own learning
Manage and organise the learning environment within the classroom to ensure it reflects the school’s high standards.
Procure appropriate resources to challenge and inspire learners.
Use and integrate a range of technologies effectively and efficiently
Ensure that planning is child centred and takes into account the diversity of individual children
Developing self and working with others
Promote and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and others
Ensure effective planning, allocation, support and evaluation of work of teams and
individuals
Regularly review own practice, set personal targets and take responsibility for own
development, seeking advice and support from other leaders
Take advantage of appropriate opportunities for professional development and use the outcomes effectively to improve children’s learning
Health and Safety
Ensuring the safety of all staff and pupils within class team by monitoring risk assessments, planned trips and visits and any school activities with a risk potential. This includes ensuring all staff within class team are aware of potential risk factors and school procedures for managing risk effectively
Safeguarding
To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by the Local Authority and school
