Sound good? We’d love to hear from you!

What Will You Be Doing?

As a User Researcher you will be involved in key strategic projects and the Digital transformation programme of work. You’ll be…

  • Assisting the Senior User Researcher in maturing Skipton’s approach to user research – to ensure we provide the tools, techniques and colleague support to drive efficient and impactful user research.

  • Advocating the benefits of User Research to Agile team members and stakeholders to ensure research findings are being integrated into the product design process.

  • Continuously evolving the maturity of the team processes by staying up to date with the latest User Research best practice.

  • Exploring the latest methods, techniques and tools to ensure that our user research function is at the top of its game.

  • Plan, design and conduct a range of user research activities to better understand the needs, behaviours, mindsets, and expectations of our members –  to identify and support the design, development and continuous improvement of our digital products.

  • Share and communicate research findings in a creative and engaging format, to influence and challenge design decisions.

  • Work collaboratively with agile teams of UX designers, business analysts, developers and testers to integrate and prioritise research findings into the product – taking a pragmatic approach, balancing user needs, business requirements and technical constraints.

What Do We Need From You?

We’re looking for a User Researcher who is skilled in using a range of quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques to discover insights that influence our product strategy and design decisions. A confident communicator with an analytical mind, you’re able to synthesise research findings into actionable insights then using storytelling and influencing skills to gain buy-in from stakeholders across the organisation.

As a user researcher, you’ll be a…

  • Research Whiz: From surveys and analytics to interviews to usability testing, you know your way around gathering qualitative and quantitative insight and making sense of it all.

  • User Advocate. You're all about understanding our users: their needs, and what makes them tick.

  • Big-Picture Thinker: understand how your research fits into the grand scheme of things for the company.

  • Team Player: Collaboration is key. You'll be tag-teaming with designers, developers, and others, so being a good communicator is a must.

  • Master Storyteller: You're not just presenting data; you're telling a story. Whether it's through reports or presentations, you've got to make it engaging.

  • Problem-Solving Pro: You're not afraid to dive into problems headfirst and come out with solutions. Turning insights into actions is your superpower.

  • Always Learning: The research game is always changing, so you're always hungry for new knowledge.

  • Education: While a degree in Human-computer Interaction, psychology, sociology, or something similar is useful, it's not essential.

So, if you're passionate about understanding people, can turn data into gold, and love working with a team to make awesome products, then a user researcher role might just be your calling!
