Overview
How you’ll make a difference
As Receptionist, you will welcome visitors both in person and via telephone, and deal with incoming enquiries. Working as part of a team, you’ll perform admin, post and print room duties, alongside the reception cover based at the Bristol & Bath Science Park. On occasions, you may provide reception cover at our Badminton Road Office.
What you will be doing
- As the first point of contact in the reception area, you will welcome visitors and greet them in person or via telephone, ensuring a friendly, customer centric approach.
- You will provide basic information and advice, answering or referring any queries where needed.
- Carrying out electronic processing for electronic mail, you will receive, log, date stamp and distribute Royal Mail post and parcels, notifying of arrival and distribution on site.
- Providing back-office support, you will carry out clerical tasks such as staff pool car bookings, buildings access control, meeting room bookings, ID badges and the purchasing of corporate stationery.
What we need from you
- We require you to hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs (grade 4 or above) including English and maths, or an equivalent qualification.
- As this is a public facing role, you must have strong interpersonal skills so you can deal with customers and colleagues professionally, as well as experience of working in an office setting or busy reception environment.
- It is essential that you can confidently use IT and have experience of using computerised printing systems and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- You must be able to use your initiative to solve day to day problems and have the judgement to identify problems, raising them with senior colleagues as appropriate.
- It is critical that you can handle confidential information appropriately, with an awareness of the Data Protection Act and how it relates to the role.
- You must have good numerical skills to appropriately record information, process financial payments and invoices and control volumes of items processed.
