About the Role

We are looking for a Freelance Essential Skills ICT Tutor who can deliver structured, high‑quality digital skills teaching aligned to accredited Essential Skills standards. This is purposeful, professional teaching with clear expectations, set delivery requirements and measurable outcomes.

Digital skills are vital for real employment opportunities. Your role is to build learner confidence by connecting digital tasks to everyday workplace needs such as email, online safety, file management and productivity tools.

You will teach, guide, challenge and support learners while maintaining professional standards every day.

Environment / Working Conditions

  • Delivery is in person in Belfast
  • Not a home‑based role
  • Structured classroom environment
  • Freelance delivery with clear expectations around punctuality, consistency and preparation

What You Will Do

  • Deliver Essential Skills ICT sessions aligned to accredited requirements
  • Prepare learners for formal assessments
  • Maintain strong engagement throughout sessions
  • Adapt delivery to mixed ability levels
  • Model digital best practice and professional conduct
  • Keep accurate learner records and follow safeguarding procedures
  • Meet quality, reliability and preparation expectations

What You Will Bring

  • A recognised teaching qualification in line with ES Circular 01/12
  • Experience delivering Essential Skills ICT or related accredited digital qualifications
  • Strong digital confidence and the ability to make skills relevant to real workplaces
  • Effective behaviour management and clear lesson structuring
  • GCSEs (A–C) or Level 2 Essential Skills in Maths and English
  • Commitment to safeguarding and compliance
  • Professionalism, punctuality and accountability

A Day in the Role

A typical day begins with reviewing session objectives and ensuring your lesson aligns to the Essential Skills framework. In the classroom, you set expectations early and link digital tasks to workplace reality. You support learners at different starting points while keeping standards high. After teaching, you update learner records, review progress and prepare your next session. This role requires clarity, organisation and consistent delivery. It is highly rewarding when learners gain the confidence to use digital skills in real employment.
