Faculty of Business & Law
Based in the purpose-built Hugh Aston Building, with its recent £5.5 million extension, The Yard, and in the sympathetically restored Leicester Castle, BAL is a truly global community of more than 8,000 students drawn from around 100 nations.
The faculty boasts strong links with professional bodies such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, offering recognition across a wide range of subject areas. With a strong emphasis on employability, our undergraduate programmes offer students the chance to gain valuable industry experience through placements, with support from a dedicated team. BAL has introduced a strong focus on opportunities for international students, including partnering with Student Circus to shine a light on jobs in the UK specifically for international students.
Leicester De Montfort Law School will soon be launching its Law Lab, which will foster collaborative and experiential education whilst providing a safe environment for student learning. The lab will deliver a variety of engaging experiences and aims to grow a network with stakeholders (both locally, nationally and internationally) to support the needs of the community.
Following a £350,000 investment, BAL students can now benefit from a state-of-the-art Trading Floor with industry-standard software for authentic simulation of financial trading and investing.

Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone with:
- Significant experience of providing executive support at a senior level, ideally in a Higher Education setting.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Proven experience in handling sensitive information, exercising sound judgement and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- A proactive and diplomatic approach, able to manage relationships with senior leaders, external stakeholders, and colleagues at all levels.
- Confidence in managing formal meetings, preparing documentation, and contributing to project and event delivery.
Role
This is a varied and strategically significant role at the heart of the faculty’s leadership. You will be part of the Executive Support team providing effective and efficient support to the leadership team. The main purpose of the role is to provide high level confidential personal assistance and support to ensure the smooth running of the office of the PVC/Dean of the Faculty of Business & Law. To be proactive in all aspects of the role, anticipating requirements, using personal initiative and displaying excellent interpersonal skills at all times.
The post holder will:
- Provide high-level executive support to the PVC/Dean, managing a complex diary, coordinating engagements, and ensuring they are fully briefed and prepared.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Dean’s office, maintaining efficient processes and supporting delivery of the wider faculty Executive Support team
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, representing the faculty with professionalism, discretion and authority.
- Ensure timely, accurate communication and briefings, supporting proactive decision-making and reducing last-minute requests.
- Support governance processes, including preparation of agendas, papers and records for key leadership meetings.
- Contribute to major events, visits and projects that enhance the faculty’s external reputation and institutional priorities.
- Create complex and highly detailed travel and accommodation arrangements (including overseas travel).
- Assist the PVC/Dean with the running of their areas of responsibility. This may include, but will not be limited to, assisting with financial processing, the administrative organisation of HR processes such as interviews, assistance and general record-keeping.
