About the role 

About the Role

We’re looking for an Asset Officer to help keep Cambridgeshire’s highway network safe, sustainable, and fit for the future. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of preventative maintenance schemes and apply asset management principles to maintain roads, footways, and cycle routes.

You’ll work closely with local communities, contractors, and internal teams to ensure maintenance activities meet local needs and priorities. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference to the places where people live and travel.

What You’ll Do

  • Investigate reported issues and plan preventative maintenance.
  • Use asset data to prioritise works and inform decisions.
  • Order and manage highway maintenance works with contractors.
  • Plan and coordinate works to minimise disruption.
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders.
  • Promote sustainability and contribute to our Net Zero goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualifications: 
    • HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Highways, or Construction 
    • A Levels/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent 
  • Skills & Experience: 
    • Knowledge of highway design, maintenance, and relevant legislation.
    • Strong communication and organisational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and solve problems.
    • Experience in highways or construction sectors.
    • IT skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Other: 
    • Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
    • Ability to contribute to sustainability and Net Zero targets.
    • Flexibility to travel and occasionally work outside normal hours.
