Bar Supervisor – Royal Dublin Society (RDS), Dublin | Full-Time / Permanent

We are looking for a dedicated Bar Supervisor to lead the bar team during shifts to deliver excellent guest experiences at the RDS – one of Ireland’s most prestigious event venues, hosting conferences, exhibitions, concerts, sporting events, and the world-famous Dublin Horse Show!

Bar Supervisor – The role

Operational Leadership 

  • Open/close the bar following SOPs; conduct line checks and service-readiness checks. 
  • Lead pre-shift briefings and emphasise service goals. 
  • Maintain product quality: glassware, garnishes, ice, cellar/line care, and recipe adherence. 
  • Manage floor/bar pacing; allocate stations; jump on the stick during peaks. 
  • Handle escalations and guest recovery; comp/discount per policy. 

Stock Control & Deliveries 

  • Receive, check, and sign off deliveries from suppliers. 
  • Rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out). 
  • Move kegs safely into correct storage zones. 
  • Manage and record cellar stock levels; communicate shortages to management. 
  • Handle returns, ullage claims, and damaged/expired stock correctly. 

People & Training 

  • Supervise bartenders, bar backs, and floor runners; ensure breaks and rota adherence. 
  • Coach in the moment (speed, accuracy, hospitality); support new starter training. 
  • Uphold a positive, safe, inclusive work environment. 

Stock & Cash Control 

  • Conduct shift stock checks; monitor variance and waste; log accurately. 
  • Ensure correct tills, cash handling, and end-of-night reconciliation. 
  • Reduce wastage and improve GP through portion and recipe controls. 

Compliance & Safety 

  • Enforce licensing conditions and Challenge 21 age verification. 
  • Adhere to Food Safety (HACCP), allergen procedures, and COSHH for chemicals. 
  • Maintain cleanliness to EHO standards; complete checklists and corrective actions. 
  • Report incidents, near-misses, and maintenance issues promptly. 

Sales & Guest Experience 

  • Drive upsell and suggestive selling (premium pours, pairings, cocktails). 
  • Execute promotions and events; support social media capture per brand guidelines. 
  • Track guest feedback (in-person/online) and implement improvements.

What we’re looking for

  • A background in a supervisory role in a bar, pub, restaurant, or nightlife venue. 
  • Confident with high-volume service and classic + signature cocktails. 
  • Strong people leadership, communication, and conflict resolution. 
  • POS literacy; basic Excel/Google Sheets for stock/cash reports.
