We are excited to advertise for a full time Band 7 CBT therapist for a one year Maternity cover post. You will be joining a dynamic, busy and successful service and multi-disciplinary team within Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders.
As a Band 7 CBT therapist you will be joining our Psychology team already comprising of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, 2 x Clinical Psychologist, 3 x CBT specialists, a psychotherapist and an Art Psychotherapist and Assistant Psychologists. There is also a wide MDT comprising of nurses, dieticians, family therapists, consultant psychiatrists a paediatrician who will offer active support and encouragement.
You will be joining a developing and thriving community based Surrey-wide child and adolescent eating disorders service at a very exciting time as we move forward with a Thrive model across CYPS Community pathways and in line with the NHS England Access and Waiting Times Guidelines and New Care Models. You should have knowledge, interest and skills in the clinical delivery of CBT and/or Family Based Interventions in both group and individual forms and be happy to travel at times.
A strong interest in working with Eating Disorders is essential and previous experience of working with young people with eating disorders is desirable. Applicants requesting a split post will be considered, though the full-time role is preferable.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the continuation of the psychology provision for Children & Young People who meet the criteria for the Surrey Eating Disorder Service for Children and Young People and those who have other co-morbidities. You will provide initial assessments of people referred to the service and deliver the initial treatment pathway as well as providing specialist psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions in line with evidence based treatment protocols. Clinical interventions will be provided to outpatients at individual and group level.
The post holder will be contributing to multi-disciplinary reviews of outpatients and be actively involved in the development and implementation of agreed care plans. They will participate in service-related activity including research, service evaluation and audit activities in addition to the supervision of other grades of staff as required. You will have the opportunity to lead on projects in line with service needs and to fully develop your clinical skills. Excellent and robust supervision is in place (managerial and clinical) and the team also receives monthly staff support from an external facilitator.

Experience

- Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles
- Good working knowledge of CBT especially around eating disorders and/or adapting CBT to young people
- Experience of developing and delivering therapeutic interventions, running workshops and group sessions
- Specialist understanding (through work and/or lived experience) of the impact of language, culture, gender, ethnicity & disability in shaping attitudes, abilities & difficulties
- Specialist understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and how to manage & maintain them
- Experience of working within an MDT and understanding of the role of care coordinator within a team
- ·Experience of contributing to clinical practice/service development / project work
