Occupational Therapist – Developmental Role (5/6)  or Band 6 depending on experience.

An excellent opportunity has arisen to come and be part of our dynamic Occupational Therapy service. We are opening this post up to a developmental post, starting as a Band 5 with the view to develop you to a Band 6 Occupational Therapist or starting in the post as a band 6 if relevant requirements are met, as per the band 6 criteria on the Job Description.

As a service we have developed innovative ways of delivering occupational therapy in the NEH & Farnham Older People Community Mental Health Team to support people in their individual recovery journey including a variety of occupationally focused programmes.

The post will include delivering both individual and group occupational therapy interventions within a clear care pathway including Lifestyle Matters Programme and Memory Matters.

Main duties of the job

We use Model of Human Occupation to guide all our occupational therapy assessments and interventions. We are particularly focusing on embedding occupational science and neuroscience into our practice.

The occupational therapy leadership team is committed to an extensive, co-ordinated CPD programme including a robust supervision structure, care group meetings, Trust wide and core competence training and an annual conference. Staff is valued for their expertise in occupationally focussed interventions and specialist group therapy.

This post is suitable if you have had previous experience of working in mental health, you want to consolidate your knowledge of occupational therapy and be involved in delivering high quality, evidence based, outcome measured occupational therapy interventions. This post also gives you an opportunity to develop skills in care coordinating service users with an occupational therapy focus and being part of the assessment team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registration
  • Occupational Therapy degree or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Band 6: Completion of Fieldwork educators’ course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of occupational frames of reference and approaches
  • Knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models
  • Knowledge of the impact of health and disability on occupational performance, participation and identity
  • Interest and skills in specialist area
  • UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes
Desirable criteria
  • Band 5: Previous experience of working with people within the clinical area (can be pre-qualification)
  • Band 6: Experience as a supervisor
  • Band 6: Experience of contributing to service development/project work
  • Band 6: Experience of group facilitation
  • Band 6: Experience with having students/apprentices
  • Band 6: Relevant post qualification clinical experience
