We succeeded thanks to a team of amazing people. They spend their days collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from a wide range of live sporting events. If you combine this real-time data with our 40-year-old archives, elite journalists, camera operators, copywriters, the latest in AI wizardry, and a host of ‘behind the scenes’ support staff, you’ve got all the ingredients to make it a magical experience!

Responsibilities: 

  • Respond to daily ad-hoc data requests from internal teams and clients. 
  • Design compelling data visualizations for use in the media. 
  • Educate internal and external teams on new Stats Perform outputs. 
  • Provide critical feedback to the AI team as the first users of their models. 
  • Create and support content for the Opta Analyst website. 
  • Develop tools (e.g., Shiny, Flask) to enhance access to Stats Performs AI models. 
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis projects for media and professional sports clients. 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously. 
  • Experience with data analysis and presenting insights through visualizations. 
  • Proficiency in a coding language (preferably Python and/or R). 
  • Experience using football data, either professionally or as a hobby. 
  • Ability to showcase existing work with sports data (e.g., code repo or social media). 
  • An in-depth understanding of football and it’s applications in data-driven analysis. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience working at a professional sports club or in the sports data industry. 
  • Experience querying databases (e.g., SQL) 
  • Experience working with AWS technologies (e.g., S3, Redshift) 
  • Experience automating code execution (e.g., Apache Airflow, AWS Lambdas) 
  • Ability to speak multiple languages. 
  • Knowledge of other sports beyond football.
