Job Description

Director of Commissioning

We are seeking a forward-thinking and results-driven Director of Commissioning to lead our wholelife approach across children’s and adults’ services. This strategic leadership role focuses on enabling independence at every stage of life, with a strong emphasis on smooth transitions from childhood into adulthood.

As Director, you will play a key role in developing effective partnerships across the Council and the Integrated Care Board (ICB), helping to deliver a shared vision for integrated, person-centred care. You will advise senior leaders and elected Members on complex decisions, contribute to managing strategic risks, and represent Wiltshire at regional and national levels.

Working within our “One Council” approach, you will collaborate across finance, procurement, and health to deliver high-quality, sustainable services. You will build strong relationships with providers, support the growth of local care businesses, and ensure services are prepared for inspection and future challenges.

We are looking for someone with a proven record of leading strategic development and delivering successful programmes in complex environments. You will be confident, proactive, and decisive, with a practical mindset and a strong focus on performance. You will lead with integrity, inspire your team, and embed a culture that puts residents first.
