Job Specialism: College
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £14 per hour
Closing Date: Wednesday, 30th September 2026
Could you be an Education Support Worker?
We have an exciting opportunity for an Education Support Worker to join our team at Sense College TouchBase Pears in Selly Oak, Birmingham.
This is a fixed-term, part-time role working 22.5 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (term time), until July 2027, with a salary of £14 per hour.
As an Education Support Worker, you’ll play an important part in helping our learners prepare for the many possible transitions into adulthood. You’ll work closely with learners to support them to achieve the outcomes identified in their Education, Health and Care Plans, while encouraging greater independence, choice and involvement in their own lives.
You’ll keep the needs of our learners at the heart of everything you do, supporting them to influence the way they are supported and helping Sense to provide a high-quality education experience.
The role is varied and no two days will be exactly the same. You may support learners to take part in educational activities, develop their independence and life skills, access their community and enjoy activities that support their health and wellbeing. Supporting learners with personal care is also a requirement of this role.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who is caring, motivated and committed to helping young people with complex disabilities achieve their goals and fulfil their potential.
You’ll need:
- A minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Maths, or GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths – this is an essential requirement for the role
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative
- A person-centred approach and a commitment to putting learners’ individual needs, choices and aspirations first
- A willingness to support learners with their personal care and day-to-day needs
Previous experience within a SEND provision would be an advantage, as would knowledge of British Sign Language (BSL), but these are desirable rather than essential requirements.
