Job Description
A finance assistant performs a range of administrative and financial tasks to support the finance or accounts team of an organisation. They support the finance department by ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day financial processes.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- To assist the Accounts function with site account tasks as required, to ensure accurate and timely records.
- Reconcile creditor accounts, fuel charges, purchase cards and other similar administrative support duties.
- Recording, processing and investigating invoice queries and ensuring a timely resolution.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Inputting cost journals in line with relevant procedures with appropriate approval and communication.
- Assist accounting team with month end processes, ensuring accurate recording of costs.
- Process allocated staff expenses in accordance with the Costain policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- Ability to work well under pressure, solving problems in a calm and rational manner and always acting with integrity.
- Have clear written and oral communication skills.
- Is a good team player and demonstrates a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
- Keen to learn and to be challenged.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a P2P function.
- Broad understanding of the P2P accounts payable processes.
Desirable
- Experience of using EnterpriseOne (E1) or other accountancy software.
- Previous experience in an accounting or accounts assistant position.
- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, document and finance management systems)
Qualifications
Essential
- At least 9 GCSE’s
- Relevant A-Levels or BTech qualifications
