Joining the M&S Group Finance team means being at the heart of one of the UK’s most iconic retailers at a genuinely exciting point in its transformation. As Finance Manager – Group FP&A, you’ll play a critical role in driving Group business performance through strong financial insight, rigour and forward‑looking analysis. Sitting within Group Finance, the role focuses heavily on cashflow, working capital and long‑term planning, supporting senior leadership with clear, credible and actionable financial insight.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Planning & forecasting: Deliver monthly reforecasts, annual budgets and 5‑year strategic plans, owning the free cashflow forecast, variance analysis and continuous improvement of models in close partnership with BU FP&A teams
- Reporting & control: Produce and enhance month‑end Group packs with strong cashflow and working capital insight, ensuring rigorous financial control and consistent application of Group accounting policies across CFO, Investor Relations and Communications outputs
- Systems & data integrity: Support Group finance reporting and ExCo reporting improvements, taking accountability for right‑first‑time delivery, data integrity and consistent, high‑quality outputs
- Analysis & evaluation: Build, structure and present ad hoc financial models and evaluations for senior finance leadership, translating complex data into clear, actionable insight and recommendations
- Leadership, governance & collaboration: Contribute actively to the M&S Plc finance community, deputise for the Senior Finance Manager as required, support analyst development, and deliver Remuneration Committee papers, including share scheme vesting calculations and related financial analysis
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with post‑qualification experience, ideally in FP&A or a highly analytical finance role, operating in fast‑paced environments
- Results‑driven, hands‑on finance professional with strong end‑to‑end ownership, able to prioritise effectively and deliver under pressure
- Highly analytical, comfortable working with complex and imperfect data sets to generate clear insight and well‑reasoned recommendations
- Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate challenges, shape forward‑looking insight and challenge existing approaches with intellectual curiosity
- Compelling communicator, able to translate financial analysis into a clear narrative for senior finance and non‑finance stakeholders, with experience using Power BI and financial systems
