Income Manager – Cambridge

Description: We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Income Manager to lead our Income team.  This role offers a rare opportunity to take forward a well-established and respected team, as our current postholder retires after a long and valued contribution.This is a crucial role within social housing management, responsible for ensuring the effective collection of rental income, minimising arrears, and supporting residents to sustain their tenancies.  You will lead a dedicated team delivering a customer focused, proactive service that balances enforcement with support, helping to protect both our tenants and the Council’s Housing Revenue Account.In this role, you will be responsible for:Leading and developing the Income team to deliver a high quality, customer focused serviceDriving the maximisation of rental income and minimisation of arrears through effective prevention, intervention and enforcementOverseeing all aspects of income recovery, including court action and eviction processes where requiredSupporting tenants to sustain their tenancies through financial inclusion and early intervention approachesMonitoring performance, managing risk, and ensuring continuous improvementWorking collaboratively with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for tenantsWe are looking for a confident and experienced housing professional who brings strong leadership, expertise, and a commitment to excellent service delivery. You will have:Proven experience of managing an income recovery function within a social housing environmentA strong track record of delivering customer focused services and improving performanceExperience of managing, motivating and developing teams, including through changeThe ability to work on your own initiative, manage competing priorities and take ownership of complex issuesExcellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and with partnersDue to the nature of this position, you will need to have a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle, which is insured for business use; or be willing to cycle around the city.An Enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
