Internal Applicants Only – Deputy Law Clinic Manager /Commercial Law Clinic Practitioner

School of Law and Politics

The Cardiff School of Law and Politics is continuing to make a significant investment in our pro bono activity. We have expanded our social justice mission activities by providing advice to the local community in Cardiff by helping people deal with their legal issues through an externally-facing Law Clinic. This post is to supplement that activity and provide resilience through the role of Deputy Law Clinic Manager.

We are looking for a professionally qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive, with a relevant restriction-free practising certificate and ideally with five or more years’ post-qualification experience. They will ideally also have the ability and experience to further develop and manage a commercial/corporate/business arm to our law clinic, based initially on our Sports Clubs Law Clinic. They will have the vision and ambition to participate in our expanded law clinic on an ongoing basis, assisting and supervising students with the delivery of advice and assistance to members of the local community.

They will support the Law Clinic Manager and the wider clinic/employability team in the consolidation/expansion of our wider clinical portfolio, including taking academic responsibility for our Professional Placement Year.

The appointee will also be responsible for delivering skills/employability-led elements of the curriculum, including our summer schools. Previous teaching and law clinic experience is desirable.

For further information or an informal discussion, please contact the co-Heads of Pro Bono and Clinical Legal Education, Professor Julie Price (Priceja1@cardiff.ac.uk) or Hannah Marchant (walshhj@cardiff.ac.uk).

This post is full time (35 hours per week), open-ended and available to start immediately.

Salary: £51,753 – £56,535 per annum (Grade 7)
Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale, unless in exceptional circumstances.
