We have particular research strengths in the history of philosophy, philosophy of mind and psychology, philosophy of language and linguistics, metaphysics, epistemology, and philosophy of science and ethics and political philosophy.

About the role

The Philosophy Department at King’s College London is seeking an outstanding philosopher with teaching experience and research expertise in Philosophy of Language (expertise in Mind, Psychology, Epistemology, and/or Applied Ethics welcome but not required.)
 
This is a full time role, and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 3 years starting from 1st September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
 
Essential criteria
  1. A PhD in Philosophy or relevant related area defended or awarded by start date
  2. Outstanding ability to teach in Philosophy of Language (expertise in Mind, Psychology, Epistemology, and/or Applied Ethics welcome but not required) at undergraduate and MA levels
  3. Strong administrative skills, and an ability to be creative and innovative in the context of a growing and evolving department
  4. A track record of publication and strong evidence of research potential in Philosophy
Desirable criteria
  1. Research and/or teaching expertise or competence in other areas that will help widen or consolidate our curriculum.
