Opportunity Overview
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems to develop and deliver high-quality teaching material across a range of modules or short programmes. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, design, and development of programmes and will be expected to engage in scholarly activity and undertake high quality research.
The postholder will perform as a Lecturer in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems, fostering further development of this important teaching and research area within the school through addressing topics aligned with the fields of geography, environmental management and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and lead the development and delivery of taught programmes and/or research programmes, with innovative and engaging delivery and learning support.
- Act as a personal tutor, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, field trips and placements.
- Undertake individual and/or collaborative research projects of relevance to the School/University.
- Demonstrate leadership in own area of expertise, act as mentor for junior colleagues.

The School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE) is a centre of discovery and innovation. The Geography and Environmental Management (GEM) team delivers a range of well-respected programmes at undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels. Our programmes carry accreditation from various professional bodies, including the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP), the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the Royal Geographical Society (RGS). Current undergraduate teaching is centred around Geography and Environmental Management. Postgraduate teaching includes programmes in Environmental Assessment and Management, Sustainability, Health and Global Environments and Safety, Health and Environment.
