Legal Advisor – Krakow, Poland
The Legal Advisor role is within Aon’s Law and Compliance (L&C) team and involves supporting commercial contracts. This support aids the growth of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions (Aon Re) and other Aon solutions. The advisor collaborates mainly with the L&C team in North America while advising Aon across its reinsurance broking, data and analytics, and consulting businesses globally.
This role will report into the Chief Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, Global Reinsurance, with coordination from the Head of Legal based in Warsaw. This role may be performed from Aon’s offices in Warsaw or Krakow.

What the day will look like
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts for Aon Re entities worldwide. The main focus is on clients in the U.S. and UK, but there is a growing number of clients across Europe and Asia too. Contract types include broker services and compensation agreements, technology license and Software as a Service (SaaS) agreements, consulting services agreements, and contracts with vendors and other third parties, especially for data licenses and strategic collaborations.
- Coordinate and manage contract reviews with various internal parties, including finance, operations, compliance, privacy, and information security teams. Connect regularly with business colleagues to discuss and align priorities for contract reviews. This includes intake and prioritization of new matters, setting timelines and expectations, and balancing competing demands and risk profiles across multiple projects.
- Examine data use rights within client and third-party contracts. Help the business verify if it holds the necessary rights to access, use, share, and commercialize client and third-party data as part of Aon Re’s products and services.
- Act as a strategic partner to business teams as they develop new technologies, engage new clients, respond to legal and regulatory changes, and resolve contractual issues.
- Proactively engage with L&C colleagues and business leaders to evaluate new products and services, assess key risks, and identify matters requiring escalation.
- Collaborate with a diverse group of L&C professionals in North America and globally to provide advice on many transactional, regulatory, and litigation issues related to Aon Re’s business and other Aon United solutions.
- Support L&C team infrastructure, including by updating precedent documents and playbooks, undertaking research, delivering training, and attending team meetings.
- Working hours from 9:00 to 17:00 CET.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- A minimum of five years working experience as an in-house counsel in a multinational organisation or an associate in a reputable law firm.
- Proficient English.
- Hands-on experience with UK or U.S. commercial contracts, including providing commercial legal advice and drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts in the English language.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, bringing up concerns appropriately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a global team.
- High level of self-direction and demonstration of good judgment.
- Ability to build and deliver practical solutions that appropriately balance commercial objectives and legal risks.
- Independence and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple time-sensitive projects and relationships, including coordinating and prioritizing contract review workflow.
- Previous relevant experience in the financial services industry (including knowledge of insurance or reinsurance laws, contracts, and/or disputes) is important. Background in the technology field (including familiarity with licensing arrangements or SaaS agreements) and/or the consulting sector is also advantageous.
