The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Fleet Turbine and Maintenance Group – a team at the heart of EDF’s Nuclear Operations. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability of our turbine systems, helping Britain achieve net zero through safe, efficient power generation.
This is an on-site role based at our #Heysham 2 Power Station.

Who You Are
We’re looking for mechanical engineer, with steam or gas turbine work experience, and you’ll thrive on solving technical challenges and delivering safe, reliable solutions. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…
- An HNC, or higher academic qualification, in a relevant engineering discipline
- Proven mechanical engineering skills related to the repair, refurbishment and modification of plant equipment, such as steam or gas turbines
Security Vetting
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out plant assessments and recommending engineering programmes for outages and maintenance
- Diagnosing faults and proposing solutions for steam turbines and other plant equipment
- Supporting commissioning of oil, steam, gas and auxiliary systems
- Preparing technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Reverse engineering turbine and auxiliary components as required
