About the role
Cambridgeshire County Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an NEC Supervisor in our Asset Management Design & Delivery Team within Infrastructure & Project Delivery.
Overall purpose of the role
The role playsĀ a key part in the successfulĀ delivery of infrastructure that will support our communities, enhance our environment and put safety at the centre.
It covers all duties under the NEC Contract including but not limited to management of defects, quality and specifications as well as maintaining site diaries and building strong relationships with supply chain partners.āÆĀ
You will be required to monitor quality, assess compliance, and report progress across varied infrastructure construction projects when being delivered on site as well as ensure works are constructed in accordance with the County Councilās current design guidance and construction specifications.āÆĀ
You’ll oversee diverse projects, including:
- Major Maintenance: Supervising a high-volume, countywide portfolio of capital maintenance design projects with total budget of approximately £30 million across roads, footpaths and drainage disciplines.
- Transport Projects and Section 106: Supervising strategic countywide transport improvements, with individual schemes exceeding £500,000, focusing on public realm enhancements and active travel.
- Local Improvements: Overseeing local improvement projects, including traffic calming and speed limit changes, with budgets up to £50,000.
The Infrastructure & Project Delivery Directorate manages all key highways contracts including the Term Service Contract, the Eastern Highways Alliance Framework, the Professional Services Framework and the Street Lighting PFI contract. We also commission and manage multiple high profile projects which use the New Engineering Contract form (NEC).

About you
You will have a civil engineering or related qualification and ideally the relevant NEC supervisor accreditation or a working knowledge of the current relevant legislation.Ā
You’ll need to be proactive and be able to take the lead in liaising with a variety of internal and external partners, consultants and contractors.Ā
You will have considerable knowledge of how civil engineering projects are delivered with an eye for detail, the relevant specifications, and quality management processes.
