About Us
The Department of Women’s and Children’s Health is one of the six Departments in the School of Life Course and Population Health Sciences in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King’s College London co-ordinates academic activity, ensuring close linkage between King’s College London (KCL) and the NHS trusts that make up King’s Health Partners. The strengths of the Paediatric programme come from a series of unique features:
- A unique and distinctive focus for paediatric research which emphasises making practical advances in common and important diseases
- The co-location of strong obstetric, fetal, neonatal and children’s research with large clinical services and strong academic programmes on a single site, and further substantial and effective clinical and academic programmes within King’s Health Partners. This includes paediatric allergy and hepatology
- Specific and unique research facilities, including the Evelina Children’s Imaging Centre, the XMR facility and the unique Neuromodulation service
- Established research links with other Schools with the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine in KCL including the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences, which includes the Department of Early Life Imaging, Innovate UK London Medical Imaging & Artificial Intelligence Centre for Value-Based Healthcare and the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering
- World-leading child mental health researchers in the Maudsley Hospital and the KCL Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN Biomedical Research Centre)
- Strong collaborative links to adult specialities that lead their fields, particularly in gastroenterology, allergy, neurosciences and imaging sciences
- An MSc in Women’s and Children’s Health
About the role
This NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer post is a 4-year appointment designed to provide 50% clinical and 50% research training.
The role is situated within the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at King’s College London and integrated with King’s Health Partners.
The post-holder will undertake clinical training within the London School of Paediatrics while pursuing high-level academic research in Maternal and Child Health, aiming to be eligible for CCT by completion.
Candidates may only apply if they have already submitted their PhD or MD thesis at the time of application. Successful candidates may not take up their post until their PhD or MD has been fully awarded.
Applicants must have at least 1 year remaining before CCT when they take up the post.
This is a full time post (40 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract for 4 years from the start date (1st March 2027).
