Operational Response Manager – Rail Operations Centre (ROC Three Bridges)

GTR are recruiting an Operational Response Manager based out of our Rail Operating Centre in Three Bridges

 

This is a great opportunity for an individual with a proven track record to work for one of the country’s busiest and award-winning rail companies.

 

The Operational Response Manager is a new position directly responsible for the team of Operational Incident Managers who will provide Southern with reliable, evidence-led consistent operational responses to incidents on the network. As such, this is an opportunity to shape a new operational concept and critically deliver a high performing team which can transform Southern’s ability to apply decision making safely and drive increasing levels of operational performance. This new role carries substantial responsibility for ensuring decisions affecting safe operation and driver welfare are made in a timely and consistent manner. The ORM will be a strong and inspiring people manager, able to motivate the OIMs and provide proactive personal coaching, support and development. The ORM will protect business resilience by ensuring a minimum cover level is always provided by planning of the OIM team activities and proactively identify target areas of the network for safety compliance monitoring and sampling.

 

Key Success Criteria  

 

  • Prioritise service recovery following all operational incidents by ensuring consistent, evidence-based decisions are taken in line with GeForce guidelines
  • Run an efficient and reliable operation with the OIM team consistently hitting targets for collecting of evidence following incidents, performance impacts and consistent decision making
  • Audit the OIM team’s use of the ECMS to assign incidents for investigations locally
  • Ensure safety bulletins are issued promptly for all incidents
  • Maintain the highest levels of engagement and competency standards are maintained in the OIM team.
  • Act as an inspiring leader to the dedicated team of Operational Incident Managers, ensuring they are deployed in a consistent and fair manner and maintain an excellent level of engagement and competency in their operational roles.
  • Assess performance and competency in train driving and other operational activities as required by the Southern competency management systems
  • Compile reports on statistical trends relating to team performance, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring consistency of approach is achieved wherever practical
