Role: Product Owner – Authorisations, Terminal, and Transaction Routing

As Product Owner for Authorisations, Scheme Compliance and Certification, Merchant-specific rules, Real-time decisioning, Failover processing, Scheme-agnostic processes, and Fraud tooling, you will define and deliver product capabilities that enable secure, reliable, and scalable payment processing across merchant channels. You will own the product vision and roadmap for core transaction flows, terminal integrations, and routing logic, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Ownership

  • Define and own the product vision and roadmap for Authorisations, Terminal services, and Transaction Routing.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable product features and technical requirements.

Backlog Management & Delivery

  • Prioritise and manage the product backlog across multiple agile delivery teams.
  • Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria for features related to transaction flows, terminal protocols, and routing logic.
  • Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release coordination.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Compliance, and Commercial teams.
  • Engage with external partners, acquirers, Schemes, and terminal vendors for seamless integration and performance.
  • Communicate product progress, risks, and dependencies to senior leadership.

Domain Expertise

  • Build deep knowledge of payment authorisation flows, EMV standards, ISO 8583 messaging, and transaction routing logic.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes impacting transaction processing and terminal management.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, PSD2, and other relevant standards.

Customer Experience & Resilience

  • Champion reliability, speed, and security in transaction processing.
  • Support incident response and root cause analysis for authorisation and routing issues.
  • Continuously improve transaction routing efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in payments, fintech, or retail technology.
  • Hands-on experience with Base24, TNS, Phoenix.
  • Strong understanding of payment authorisation protocols, terminal integrations, and transaction routing systems.
  • Awareness of Schemes Certification requirements.
  • Experience in agile environments with cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
