Security Analyst – Booker Group

Location: Manchester, Lancashire, M30 7RT

Shift Hours: 38 hrs per week (Hybrid)

At Booker, technology plays a vital role in keeping our business moving. As a Security Analyst, you’ll help protect and maintain the systems that support our branches, ensuring they’re secure, up to date and operating effectively.

This is a hands-on role within the Booker Technology Security team, working across a diverse technology estate that includes Linux servers, Android devices, point-of-sale systems and other branch technologies. If you’re someone who enjoys working with Linux, Android and operational technology environments, this could be a great opportunity to develop your cyber security career.

You’ll work closely with teams across Technology and Operations to improve security controls, manage vulnerabilities, support technical projects and help keep our systems protected. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about security governance, compliance standards and industry best practices, including PCI DSS.

  • Schedule and monitor security patching and software upgrades across branch systems.
  • Review security scan results and support the remediation of vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor software versions and ensure systems remain within supported lifecycles.
  • Investigate and resolve issues affecting system security, stability and availability.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of security controls across the Booker estate.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventories and technical documentation.
  • Support security and technology projects, delivering agreed outcomes to time and quality expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with technology, operational and supplier teams to support business needs.
  • Follow change management, security and governance processes.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Linux-based systems.
  • Experience working with Android devices, mobile technologies or endpoint management tools.
  • An interest in cyber security and a desire to build your knowledge in the field.
  • An understanding of core security concepts such as vulnerability management, endpoint security and access controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to prioritise work and manage competing demands.
  • A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement.

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience working in a retail, wholesale or operational technology environment.
  • Exposure to POS systems, handheld devices, RF devices or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of mobile device management solutions.
  • Awareness of security compliance or governance processes.
