About us
We are the Assessment Standards team sitting within Timetabling and Examinations Services. Together we are responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive service that is fit for purpose and evolves constantly to meet the needs of our students. This includes devising and implementing all associated business processes to ensure they are responsive and proactive, and driving a culture of service management and improvement that centres our students at the heart of the service
We are part of the wider Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so.
About the role
The Senior Assessment Standards Officer’s role is to provide a secretariat service for all assessment boards. The overall accountabilities of the role include:
• Secretariat support for Assessment Boards across the college’s 9 faculties and a wide range of subjects.
• Advice and guidance to Assessment Boards and Assessment Sub-Boards on College regulations.
This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to work in an assessment function within a large organisation, who wish to utilise and build on their skills and expertise in regulatory compliance. This is an opportunity to grow your skills in minute-writing and providing advice and guidance on complex issues.

This is a full time role (35 Hours per week) with essential periods of high intensity associated with annual assessment boards throughout the academic year. The post is offered on a permanent basis.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in central directorates, or Faculties. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications, or other training.
- Understanding of regulatory issues in a Higher Education context
- Ability to develop, articulate and implement policies and procedural systems
- Excellent administrative skills, with high attention to detail.
- A proven ability to organise and plan effectively.
- Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Experience of working in Higher Education
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience of committee servicing
- Knowledge of policies and procedures and their application in a Higher Education context
Desirable criteria
- Experience of minute-taking and servicing meetings
- Experience of providing guidance and training in complex policies and procedures, to a wide range of audiences.
- Previous use of SITS would be advantageous.
- Experience of compiling and interpreting management information
