Job Introduction
We’re currently looking for a Senior Assistant Company Secretary to work closely with our Company Secretary and be a key player in driving corporate governance excellence across MPS.
This important role supports the Company Secretary in upholding the integrity of the Group’s corporate governance framework and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions. You will lead the delivery of robust subsidiary governance services, whilst contributing to the management of the full lifecycle of board and committee meetings. As a key point of contact for senior stakeholders, including directors and executive leadership, you will play a critical role in supporting effective decision-making and maintaining high standards of corporate governance.Â
With a strong foundation in company secretarial practice, excellent technical knowledge, and the ability to exercise sound judgement, the Senior Assistant Company Secretary will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practice across the governance function. This role also includes deputising for the Company Secretary where appropriate, offering an outstanding opportunity for professional growth and strategic involvement at a senior level.Â
Role Responsibility
As our new Senior Assistant Company Secretary, you will:Â
- Attend Council and sub-committee meetings, acting as governance lead or supporting the Company Secretary as deputy.
- Uphold and promote high standards of corporate governance across the organisation, supporting a culture of accountability, transparency and effective oversight.
- Lead and coordinate subsidiary governance activities, ensuring robust statutory compliance in line with UK and international requirements.
- Oversee preparation and maintenance of statutory registers and corporate records, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness.
- Lead the end-to-end administration of board and committee meetings, ensuring accurate minutes, robust record-keeping, and full compliance with governance standards and meeting protocols.
- Work efficiently and resourcefully, identifying opportunities to streamline and improve governance activities.
- Support and contribute to process-improvement initiatives across the Secretariat and wider organisation.
- Identify and escalate governance or regulatory risks, issues, or breaches promptly.Â
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for:Â
- CGI qualified/finalist or equivalent.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and effectively at all levels of the organisation.
- Proven organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Prior experience in an Assistant Company Secretary role or equivalent position.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Flexible, adaptable, and proactive, demonstrating resilience and a positive approach when managing shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Strong ability to perform under pressure, prioritise tasks, and deliver results within deadlines.
- Proven ability to manage a diverse workload effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Â
