We are looking to appoint a Senior Ecologist to join our team. The successful candidate can be based at any of our offices across the UK, however, being located in the Midlands would be advantageous. The ability to travel for site visits is essential.
- Organising and leading on field surveys and monitoring survey progress.
- Undertaking analysis and reviewing ecological data for accuracy and quality.
- Producing ecological reports, including specific assessments and management plans.
- Organising and supporting in Ecological Clerk of Works roles.
- Identifying and supporting the development of strategies on ecological constraints and opportunities on potential projects.
- Preparing work and fee proposals and contributing to project bidding.
- Liaising with clients, contractors and stakeholders on technical strategy and advice.
- Understanding Health and Safety issues relevant to surveying and report any hazards onsite and supporting in preparing risk avoiding measures.

About You
Our ideal Senior Ecologist will have:
- A degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Experience of appraising projects for potential ecological constraints and opportunities.
- Experience in surveying UK habitats – ideally FISC 4 botanical skills. (or able to achieve this within 12 months with Pick Everard support)
- Experience in survey design and mitigation for protected species and coordination of sub-consultants.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management at appropriate level. (or equivalent)
- Experience in the use of the Statutory Biodiversity Metric to evidence Biodiversity Net Gain.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, case law and planning policy relevant to ecology.
- Knowledge of relevant guidance and standards for a range of species.
- Experience of mitigation licence processes relevant to protected species.
- Organisational and communication skills applied to clients and project teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience of working with GIS software.
- Enjoys working outdoors, willingness to complete fields surveys and work some antisocial hours.
- Valid driving license required.
