Location: Miskin, South Wales (CF72 8XY) or New Mills, Wotton-under-Edge (GL12 8JR)
Salary: Up to £44,000 depending on experience
Hybrid working: Minimum of 3 days working on site, 2 days working from home

We design and manufacture AM turn-key solutions based on a process called metal powder bed fusion (or laser melting).  Our products are used by customers in their cutting-edge engineering projects, in market sectors ranging from automotive to aerospace.

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer at Renishaw, you’ll be responsible for design of electrical schematics within the AMPD current products group. You’ll have the opportunity to get involved in initial designs, as well as hands-on support to modify the AM machines and test the hardware electrics within the system.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Electrical Lead in achieving project delivery within AM Current Products.

  • Produce, modify and manage electrical design schematics, technical files and supporting design documentation.

  • Update risk assessments/DL440 documentation where necessary

  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, gathering requirements to understand the purpose and use of equipment.

  • Support other business functions (e.g. Supply Chain, After Sales) to ensure the correct implementation of design solutions.

  • Take part in design reviews, especially FMEA, to ensure “right first time” solutions.

  • Provide support to production teams to increase understanding of latest machine platforms, as well as working with AM Field Service team to support installation and troubleshooting of machines at customer sites.

Key requirements

  • Educated to HNC level within a relevant engineering/technical, accompanied with previous experience of working in a complex engineering position.

  • Experience of working to written requirements within an electrical design field.

  • Understanding of low voltage and machinery directives.

  • Detailed knowledge of electrical standards and industry best practice.

  • Proficient in the use of electrical CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Zuken E3.

  • Ability to produce clear schematics/cable drawings.

Desirable requirements

  • Familiarity with CAD packages such as Siemens NX for 3D and 2D design.

  • Working knowledge of PUWER compliance and machinery safety directive.

  • The ability to assemble electrical equipment (soldering components, making cable assemblies etc.)

  • The ability to fault find assembled equipment.
