Senior Lecturer in Strategy – Strand, London, WC2R 2LS
About us:
King’s Business School, King’s College London, seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Strategy to join the Department of Strategy, International Management & Entrepreneurship (SIME).
SIME advances rigorous and impactful research on questions that matter to business and society, including how firms formulate and implement strategy, navigate geopolitical uncertainty, compete across borders, respond to technological and institutional change, and lead transitions towards more productive, sustainable and responsible ways of operating.
Our interdisciplinary community brings together expertise in strategy, international management, innovation, sustainability, responsible business and geopolitics. Colleagues publish in leading journals, secure competitive research funding, and engage with partners in industry, government and civil society.
SIME contributes to core undergraduate teaching in Strategic Management, International Business, and Business Ethics and Sustainability. The Department also hosts the FT-ranked MSc in International Management and contributes specialist teaching across King’s Business School.
Located in central London, King’s offers an internationally connected environment for developing ambitious research, research-informed education and engagement with organisations, policymakers and wider society.
About the role:
We seek an outstanding scholar whose research advances major themes in strategy, with a particular focus on technology and innovation. The successful applicant will complement and strengthen SIME’s established capabilities in strategy, international management, innovation, sustainability, responsible business and geopolitics.
We welcome theoretically ambitious and methodologically rigorous research across strategy. Of particular interest is work examining how technology and innovation shape firm strategy, competitive advantage, corporate scope, global supply chains, business models, organisational capabilities, industry evolution, ecosystems, platforms, and relationships among firms, markets and institutions. Relevant work may also address artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, digital transformation, international strategy, non-market strategy, or the strategic implications of industrial, technology and innovation policy.
We particularly welcome research that connects these questions to geopolitical change, geoeconomic fragmentation or business-government relations, while remaining open to different theoretical traditions, levels of analysis and methodological approaches within strategy.
The postholder will develop an internationally excellent and visible research programme, publish work of originality, significance and rigour, pursue external research funding, and build productive collaborations within SIME, across King’s and internationally. They will deliver high-quality, research-informed teaching, including core strategy and relevant specialist subjects, contribute to doctoral supervision, and undertake academic leadership and citizenship appropriate to Senior Lecturer level.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) offered on an indefinite contract.
