Sous Chef – Prince William of Gloucester Barracks ‍ (2 Positions Available)

Pay & Hours

  • £14.55 per hour

  • 37.5 hours per week (5 out of 7 days)

  • Mixture of shift patterns:

    • Early: 06:00 – 13:30

    • Mid: 11:30 – 19:30

    • Late: 12:00 – 20:00

  • Accessible by bus route

Meal Service Times:
Breakfast – 07:00 to 08:15
Lunch – 12:30 to 13:15
️ Dinner – 18:00 to 19:00

About the Role

We’re currently recruiting two experienced Sous Chefs to join our friendly catering team at Prince William of Gloucester Barracks.
You’ll work as part of a team of 4, delivering high-quality, freshly prepared meals for around 160 service personnel.

This is an exciting opportunity for skilled chefs who take pride in their craft and want to progress within a supportive environment at ESS, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland.

‍ Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations

  • Prepare, cook, and serve high-quality meals to service standards

  • Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring consistency and teamwork

  • Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards

  • Assist with menu planning, stock control, and allergen management

  • Deliver quality and efficiency across all shift patterns

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience essential in a similar chef role (Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie)

  • Qualifications desirable (City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent)

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills

  • Passion for great food and quality service ❤️

  • Flexible and reliable, able to work early, mid, and late shifts
