We are currently seeking a Technical Assistant to join our team.
This post is based with Tees Valley Joint Services at the Metrology Centre, Cannon Park, Middlesbrough. We provide various functions, on behalf of the Tees Valley local authorities, assisting local industry with legal metrology compliance and providing local businesses with a mass calibration service for their process control.
This is a physical role that involves handling a range of weights as they undergo refurbishment and calibration at our well-equipped facility, sometimes you will need to operate a crane or use a fork-lift truck to handle the heavy items.
We are seeking to recruit a skilled technician who can bring their proven previous experience of working with tools and machinery in an industrial workshop, repair or fabrication environment. Once refurbished, the items will progress to a clean room environment for calibration where you will use modern ultra-precision equipment for measurement and adjustment – use of these instruments requires dexterity and mental agility. Training will be provided for the use of laboratory instruments that are unfamiliar.
You will assist with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Metrology Centre. You will field straightforward enquiries from business customers and partner organisations, and you will process your calibration results using our laboratory management database.
This is a challenging and rewarding role with heavy manual handling duties. You need to be organised, safe-working, customer focused, adaptable to ever changing circumstances and work with great care and attention to detail.
