Faculty / Directorate:
Home to four specialist schools – Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Leicester School of Pharmacy, the Faculty has a long tradition of providing high quality education and development to professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. The dedicated facilities are designed to replicate current practice and feature industry-standard equipment, enabling staff and students to undertake life changing projects to improve health and social care.

Role:
The primary role will be to prepare practical classes taking place within designated specialist teaching laboratories for staff and students. This will include maintaining and providing training, practical assistance and advice in the use of specialist equipment and techniques, primarily supporting Microbiology. The post holder will work under the direction of the Senior Technician and/ or Team Leader to assist in updating and developing risk assessments and COSHH in line with University Policy.

Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual with a commitment to continuous improvement to provide a full technical service to staff and students within the Schools of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences. With experience in the use of specialist equipment and techniques relevant to the area of work and a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail, you will work as part of a team to service the day-to-day requirements of the laboratories and/ or practice areas. Knowledge or experience of working within a technical role in Microbiology would make you a stand out candidate. The post holder may also be required to support other practice areas within the faculty when required.
