About the role:
We are seeking a skilled Weekend Chef to join our team in Scarborough, United Kingdom. This position is ideal for a culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is available to work weekends during term time from 11am to 7pm
Job Description
- .Plan and prepare nutritious and appealing meals for weekend service during term time
- Oversee kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Manage inventory and place orders for necessary supplies
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain efficient operations
- Adapt menus to accommodate various dietary requirements and allergies
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Participate in menu planning and development for future terms
Qualifications
- Culinary degree or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience as a chef, preferably in an educational or institutional setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and current food safety certification
- Expertise in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation
- Proficiency in operating various kitchen equipment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team
- Understanding of nutritional guidelines for educational institutions
- Experience in managing dietary requirements and allergen concerns
- Flexibility to work weekends and adapt to term-time schedules
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
