Electrical Tradesperson

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical Tradesperson to join our Facilities team at our prestigious Media City Building at Salford Quays!

The successful candidate will be expected to work unassisted or within a team depending on the works being carried out, working closely with other trades such as, plumbers, joiners, and handypersons.   You must have a good knowledge, understanding and experience in other skills such as, principles of electrical awareness and safe isolation procedures.

The ideal candidate shall be committed to learn and develop their skills and competences that can be demonstrated by either having possession of a City & Guilds (Part 1 & 2) certificate in Electrical Installation, or equivalent qualification.

Key Responsibilities

The Electrical Tradesperson will be responsible for maintenance and repairs on all of the electrical infrastructure across the building and also become familiar with our other buildings located at our Peel Park site in Salford. 

You may at times may be expected to work a flexible working week outside of the agreed shift pattern, this would be dependent on the needs of the business. This may include early starts, late finishes and the occasional weekend work.

Whilst working on your own initiative in the main but also as part of the wider Estates team, your communication skills and exceptional customer care skills will shine through in this role, as you complete your tasks and tend to the queries and situations that arise daily.  As this is a support service, it must be provided in a professional and friendly manner, using discretion, tact diplomacy and attention to detail. At Media City we host lots of both internal and external events and, of course, our students so, if you are naturally outgoing and sociable there will be plenty of interaction for you.

A bit about Estates and Property Services…

Estates & Facilities Services Directorate is responsible for delivering a full estates and facilities management service to the University, including property maintenance, planned maintenance and renovation, cleaning, security, caretaking and facilitating spaces for our staff and students.

The Facilities Management team sits within the Estates and Property Service Division.  Their core objective is to provide an essential and critical Facilities Management services across all campuses, to ensure the buildings and general estates are pleasant, fit for purpose and functional for everyone.
