University Teacher in Criminology (maternity cover)

 

Full-time and fixed term commencing 2 September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter until 30 June 2025 (or the earlier return of the substantive post holder)

 

This is an opportunity to join Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy at Loughborough University, part of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Loughborough’s Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy is recognized nationally and internationally for its excellence in research, teaching and enterprise.

 

Criminology at Loughborough University is a top Criminology programme, ranked top ten in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. Sociology is ranked 6th in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2024. The School has an investment strategy to develop cross-disciplinary studies based around its core strengths and is in a strong financial and student recruitment position.

 

Applications are invited from outstanding candidates with teaching interests across criminology and sociology, but candidates with an interest in: criminal justice, policing, victimology, women and crime, violence and violent crime, substance use, crime and social welfare, with a focus on practical and applied skills – are especially encouraged to apply.

 

The candidate must have sustained experience of teaching in a range of classroom settings (lectures, tutorials, workshops for example). They will also have experience of designing, delivering and marking assessments. Candidates will be expected to contribute to all areas of the curriculum as required, including the delivery and development of BSc and MA programmes.

 

Candidates are expected to have a completed PhD in a social science discipline or equivalent experience and the clear potential to contribute to our subject area.
